Explore our wide selection of edible colouring oils, gels, liquids, pastes and powders. We are stockists of great brands such as Colour Mill, Sugarflair and Progel from Rainbow Dust. Whether you are looking to add a pop of colour into icing or buttercream, making a rainbow cake, perfecting some macarons, or changing up some chocolate, we have got you covered!
Gel and paste colourings are best used for deeper colours. Colours become deeper with time, so we suggest you add a little drop, mix, wait 15 minutes and repeat if needed. Gel and paste food colourings are suitable for colouring any type of icing, buttercream or even cake mixes. Due to their high concentration, the colours can be used sparingly to achieve a pastel shade and more liberally to give a strong vibrant colour. Check out our Squires Kitchen neon pastes to brighten up your bakes! There are so are many ways you can use food colouring. Liquid food colouring is great to achieve pastel colours. It is best used with other liquid medium such as syrup, water and chocolate used in icing, batter or dough. We have a wide range of Fractal Colours liquid colouring, with both matte and shimmer finishes.
Rainbow Dust offers an extensive range of powder colourings. These are perfect for mixes that are sensitive to the amount of added liquid such as chocolate or macarons. It can also be added into dry mixture or combine it with a few drops of clear alcohol for a paint like consistency. You can even brush it directly onto food as a gentle decoration. Powder is best used for darker colours and for sweet treats like crystal sugar, chocolates, meringues and macarons.
Oil colourings are best used for chocolate or any fat or oil based products. They are specialised to work with fat-based recipes where adding water would affect the mixture. They give a strong vibrant colour and work well in chocolate, hard sweets and icing. Check out our go-to brand, Colour Mill, for all your oil based colouring needs!
