Easter Cookies
What kind of biscuit is best?
To insure your Easter cookies keep their shape its probably best to make them out of sugar cookies. These cookies are simple to make with only a few ingredients that you may already have in the cupboard -
- Flour
- Egg
- Caster sugar
- Baking powder
- Vanilla extract
- Unsalted butter
Luckily, we already have some handy hints to help with making your sugar cookies!
Pick your Shapes
The foundation of how your Easter cookies look will be in how they are shaped. Make sure to cut them out before baking and they will hold their shape. Between a large range of cutters or if you’re feeling particularly adventurous you could stencil and cut them yourself meaning your options are endless.
Flooding your Cookies
There are two options when it comes to flooding cookies – the classic royal icing or basic cookie icing. Royal icing requires a little more practice however it tends to allow for more details. Basic cookie icing is easier to use and of course still looks pretty. If you fancy an easy life we sell royal icing mix or ready made royal icing.
Royal Icing -
- Egg whites / meringue powder
- Icing sugar
- Lemon juice
- Water
Basic Cookie Icing -
- Icing sugar
- Water
- Vanilla extract
Pop a thin nozzle in a piping bag and draw an outline around the outside of your shape before switching out for a larger nozzle to fill the inside. Use a toothpick to smooth out or pop any bubbles.
Decorating
Make sure to colour your icings in a variety of spring and Easter colours. Pipe this on top of your flooded cookies to add details. Create cute bunnies, scrumptious chicks, design endless eggs and write messages.
Top them off with Sprinkles
Of course, no bake is complete without sprinkles to finish them off, and with how adorable our range of Easter sprinkles are you won’t be able to resist! Make sure you place them on whilst the icing is still tacky to insure they stick firmly once dry.
